At the request of another country: Extradition cases in Poland 2022–2024

This is the first edition of a report devoted to extradition practice in Poland, in the years 2022–2024. For many months we collected and analysed statistics and decisions by the courts and prosecutors’ offices in extradition cases. Our aim was to form a picture of how this institution functions in practice.

Banking litigation: WIBOR, the free credit sanction, and judgments from the Court of Justice

The Polish courts hear numerous cases between banks and their customers. Some borrowers challenge the legality of the use of the Warsaw Interbank Offered Rate as the benchmark for interest rates on mortgage loans. Others seek imposition of the sanction of “free credit” to gain an economic advantage in consumer credit cases. On top of these are cases involving the settling of accounts under invalidated credit agreements denominated in Swiss francs. In our report we present a thorough legal analysis of these issues from the perspective of the stability of the banking system and protection of the legitimate interests of lenders.

How to approach the regulatory “octopus” entangling any new medtech product? Instead of just citing the regulations, we decided to share a hypothetical case study. We answer more than 30 questions from four key areas, but surely this does not exhaust the potential legal issues in this area.

To help businesses navigate through the maze of regulations, we have identified the main issues from different areas of law where ESG and sustainability risks may arise. We also suggest ways to help mitigate these risks.

          Corporate reorganisations in practice

Our team has recently conducted a range of corporate reorganisations, including mergers (some cross-border), conversions and demergers (including demerger by spin-off). This experience has encouraged us to gather our knowhow in one place and discuss issues that are useful in practice. In our report, we explore many issues worth examining at the stage of preparing companies for reorganisation.
